Iphone upgrade doesn't work
Apple created a buzz not so long back with the launch of the new iPhone 3G, but that soon turned to disappointment once they got their hands on these handsets. iPhone 3G users have been experiencing a number of problems; these include slow websurfing speeds, dropped calls and weak signals. Since the issues aren't limited to U.S. customers, and users of other handsets don't seem to be complaining, it stands to reason that AT&T's network can't be the cause. More...

MobileMe's Mea Culpa: A 60-Day Subscription Extension
Apple is tacking on 60 days of free service to MobileMe accounts to thank users for their patience since the service's shaky start in July. MobileMe users have complained about problems with pretty much every single aspect of the service, so giving everybody a total of three free months of subscription (which is pretty much three times the lifetime of the service so far) is a small consolation for the agony a lot of paying users have had with MobileMe. Toshiba's XDE DVD Player: A Threat to Blu-ray?
Called the XD-E500, the new technology, announced in the U.S. today stands for XDE, or "eXtended Detail Enhancement", is, claim Toshiba, more than just DVD upconversion. Toshiba demo'ed the player to reporters last week, playing the same disc in an XD-E player and a standard, $70 upscaling (Toshiba) model on side-by-side identical LCD HDTVs. According to reports, the different was subtle, but clearly the XD-E player had a sharper image. More...
